The college has an active Student Council. Class Representatives and Deputy Class Representatives are nominated by the students of the respective classes at the beginning of the academic year. These Class representatives subsequently elect the President, Secretary, Joint Secretary, Sports Secretary and Cultural Secretary of the student council in a democratic process.
Participation in student council allows students to actively engage in college life by representing their peers' interests, organizing events, addressing concerns, and contributing to decision-making processes, essentially acting as a bridge between the student body and college administration, while developing leadership skills and a sense of community through their involvement.
The functions performed by the Student Council are:
Representing Students: Acting as a voice for the student body and conveying their concerns and ideas to the college administration.
Organizing Events: Planning and coordinating social, cultural, and academic events such as festivals, debates, and workshops.
Improving Campus Life: Working to enhance student life by promoting a positive and inclusive campus culture.
Providing Leadership Opportunities: Giving students a platform to develop leadership and organizational skills.
Encouraging Student Participation: Encouraging students to participate in college activities and fostering a sense of community.
Assisting with College Policies: Collaborating with faculty and administration to develop and improve policies that affect students.
Addressing Issues: Identifying and addressing student problems, such as academic concerns, facilities, or mental health, and finding solutions.
Promoting Welfare: Ensuring students' well-being by organizing programs for health, safety, and academic support.
Building Student-Teacher Relations: Strengthening relationships between students and teachers through open communication and events.
Supporting Clubs and Societies: Assisting student clubs and societies in organizing their activities and representing them in council meetings.
