HISTORY OF POLITICAL SCIENCE DEPARTMENT

    Political Science Department is one of the oldest departments of A.S.D Govt. Degree College for women, Kakinada established in the year 1963.

In 1968 the Devasthanam handover the college to Government of Andhra Pradesh, A.S.D Govt. College functioned as a Composite college still 1996, offering instructions to intermediate classes also later according to the policy of U.G.C. the college wasbifurcatedin to junior and degree colleges in 1996. Since then political Science department has been handling only degree level teaching.

The post Lecturer in Politics has been sanctionedonpermanent basis in 1970 in G.O. MS No. 594 Edn dated 17. 03.1970. Since then the department has been actively receiving good number of students especially in political science.

Brief History of the Department (Brief activities taken up by the Department )

Political Science Department is one of the oldest departments of A.S.DGovt. Degree College for Women,Kakinada established in the year 1963.

In 1968, the Devastanam handover the college to Government of Andhra Pradesh,A.S.D.Govt. College functioned as a composite college still 1996,offering instructions to intermediate classes also later according to the policy of U G C . The college was bifurcated into Junior and Degree Colleges in 1996. Since then the Political Science Department has been handling only degree level teaching.

The post lecturer in Political Science has been sanctioned on permanent basis in 1970 in     

G.O.Ms No.594 dated 17.03.1970.  Since then the department has actively receiving good

number of student especially in Political Science.

One of the oldest student Mrs.Vanaga Geetha of this department is presently holding the post of Ex.MLA for pitapuram Constituency. She was also worked as Chairperson of Kakinada Zilla Parishad.

Activities taken  by the Department;

While admitting the students to 3 year degree classes special coaching have been taken up to make the students to get seats in the university in the department of Political and Public Administration because of this effort many students got seats in P G level.

At times in course of teaching informal Quiz Programmes and Debates were conducted to inculcate the habit of reading books and journals and latest political events.

Among the students committee this habit enhances the class room learning and makes the students commitment in all activities.
