DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMICS

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT: 

The Department of Economics boasts a rich history dating back to the college's founding in 1962. It initially offered a B.A. program with an Economics focus. In 1991, the department expanded its offerings to include a B.Com. program in Telugu medium, followed by the introduction of an English medium B.Com. program in 1993. Recognizing the evolving academic landscape, the department embraced the restructured B.A. course, incorporating subjects like EPDM and HECA into its curriculum.

A testament to the department's strength, two permanent lecturer positions in Economics were sanctioned in 1970 through G.O. MS No. 594 Edn dated March 17, 1970. Since then, the department has consistently attracted a significant number of students, particularly those with a keen interest in economics.

Student Support and Engagement:

The Department of Economics at  ASD Government Degree College  has a strong commitment to student success and academic excellence. They offer specialized coaching to help students achieve their academic goals, including securing admission to postgraduate programs. To foster a dynamic learning environment, the department organizes various activities such as quizzes, debates, and discussions.

Effective Teaching and Assessment: 

The department employs a comprehensive approach to teaching, combining lectures, seminars, assignments, and other assessments. To cater to the diverse needs of students, they offer differentiated instruction, including specialized coaching for those requiring additional support.

Continuous Assessment and Support:

The department emphasizes continuous assessment and provides students with resources like question banks and model papers to aid their preparation. To reinforce learning, they conduct review sessions at the end of each academic year.
